Hi all,

I'm after the wiring plug which goes into the sender unit on a defender td5. Does anyone know of either a part number or someone where I can get one from? I've checked my manual and I can only seem to find the number for the entire loom!

Thanks

You will most likely need a scrapper and cut it off, but Im sure some other rover plug will be the same, ie 45/75 models.
You may be able to repin your current plug?

You can buy pins from Rs components/ebay etc, then you could resin them solid into the fuel sender socket itself so waterproof them etc, buy a few spare pins for if and when the pump dies.
There is a chassis loom on ebay used for 30 quid, but 30 quid for a plug is a bit rich!

Albert, you are using a 200tdi yes? If so you will need to change that pump for the ROW spec one which is a sender only (I have the part number somewhere) and they use econoseal connectors.
Unless you have another plan, in which case tell me to keep my 'kin nose out..

think on ebay they list has a euro plug u can get various pin denominations and plug sizes ,,i got a 2 pin euro plug to fit my tdci sender to 200 loom as above use row sender or tdci sender aaron thats the ones econo ,,i got mine after seeing your thread build

Thanks for all the replies. Do you have a link or part number for the row sender? Will that work ok with a td5 fuel gauge?

Currently I've just blanked off the pump outlets as I wasn't planning on buying another sender and I was just going to use the feed for the gauge

WQB100430 is the ROW sender, which is also the same as the tdci one.
Td5 is different to tdci as the tdci has an external pump like a tdi has a lift pump, td5's pump is built into the tank sender unit, your plan may work and would be interesting to know.

The connector you need for that type of pump/sender is a 4-way female BMW connector -

I posted details of the BMW part numbers for the connector, terminals and wire seals -

The sender-only type (without an in-tank pump) uses a 4-way female Econoseal III 070 connector, like this -

GATSO's eBay listing number is for the wrong type of Econoseal connector - that's an Econoseal J Mk. II Series connector, which won't fit.

Great thanks!!! I'll weigh up both options and work out which is better. Staying with current will be cheaper but it's not the tidiest solution. I'll keep you up to date with which route I take

Tried firing it up today, couldn't get any fuel from the td5 unit. I'll pull it out and see if i can remove all the pump gubbings then try it again. If not it looks like I'll have to fork out £60 for the row one.

Does the row one come with fittings or will I have to heat up and jubilee clip the pipes one?

Thanks

Albert

Albert it uses a 4 way plug, but their is only 2 wires needed, not sure why they do it, but probably as you say and just generic.
