TD5 Fuel Filter Head Connectors Order

Just changing the fuel filter head on my 04 TD5 110, got everything connected but then noticed a leak from the front/right side closest to the chassis

just wanted to double check the 'duckbill' connector fits in that slot?

Cleaned up both fixings but its now leaking fuel from both connectors.

The chassis side connector is badly leaking and the outside one on the same side is also leaking.

Fuel is coming from where the connector and line meet, not from the head.

Whats the fix? new male brass connectors or new female hose connectors?

Those male connectors don't look 100%..... The genuine head I put on came with new males in situ ( oo er missus!) so I guess they do lose the good seal? Your head is very smart I must say..... A

They are the original connectors that came on it! Just cleaned up. Cheers, genuine replacement was £120, this was £100. Made sense really

Change the connectors. The sealing faces aren't matching the new head. Just fit new. No point skimping on stuff like this

Though the leak is not coming from where the head/connector meet. Rather coming from where the male connector joins the female connector. I'm guessing if I fit new connectors I've got to salvage the duckbill valve thing?

Would they still cause this issue?

Sorry missed that. As they have been fiddled with the seal had likely gone, I would replace that male part.

Have you tried nipping it up a bit more?

Done them up as tight as I'm willing to tighten them. Any more and I expect I'll risk damage. Used new copper washers as well. So new male connectors?

What is the purpose of the rubber bit on the end in the OP pic?

Well the leak is so bad now it wont even ****ing start. Spent hours today looking for these ****ty connectors and theres nothing.

*Phew* turns out there was a hairline crack in the male connector!

luckily I had a spare. Purging now, so far zero leaks

if you do need one, order the air bleed valve and take the inside bit out. I had to do the same after finding a crack in mine

I did exactly that, just using the old connector. All solved now very happy indeed. Even if I did loose about a litre of fuel
