Td5 exhaust manifold warp

Hi all i have removed my manifold after the screeching noise aroused to find that it is warped there are a few options to do i was just wondering what was the best ??

I have read alot about people grinding the inner out of the manifold in betweem each hole as supposidly this helps and then i was going to get it skimmed and put it back on ,,

However i think i am going to go down the route of drilling the block out and putting bigger studs or bolts in m10 i think as if its held down properly with proper bolts it wont warp i hope :/ but do i do it all round or just 4 corners hmmm any suggestions greatly welcomed

The steel manifold will eventually pull the studs from the alloy head. If its going to warp then you wont stop it just by tightening or fitting bigger ones. The weak point is the threads in the head. Get it skimmed as its already done all the warping its going to. Have you dialled up your turbo giving excessive EGT?

JE Engineering do an exhaust manifold stud kit here. Youll need to skim yours if its warped though... Or buy another. IRB do a tubular manifold, but its big money.... £800 +vat

i had the same problem, mine was warped by 4mm along the face, a quick skill in a mill later and quite a few problems have vanished!

I had the same problem of warping, although mine isn't remapped. I had the webbs machined out and then skimmed. Have had no problems with it so far and that was two years ago. I have done quite a few miles since then, motorway and mountain. The engines run really hot and the warping is a common problem, me thinks that they should have been designed with an expansion/contraction slice out of the webbs. But thats just my bitter side coming out. I love the buggers really(most days)!
