OK.......So I am getting close to driving my bloody Defender TD5 1999 off the edge of a cliff.
I have spent a fortune repairing this Landy. New cylinder head, oil cooler, turbo, steering pump, water pump, all drive shafts, etc.etc.etc.
I have had an ongoing problem with a stuttering engine for over 18 months now. I have changed the injector loom and cleaned all connections to the ECU an a regular basis. All these parts are as dry as a bone now. The stuttering (and occasionally the engine management light comes on) seemed to disappear for a few months and now it is back. I have been advised to get it hooked up to a diagnostics machine. This isn't that easy for me as the nearest dealer is a long way away.
However......my question is......do I need to go to a dealer for diagnostics??
I have a reasonably good mechanic who has diagnostics there, but I don't know if it will be as thorough as a dealer's computer?
Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks.
