Hi guys,
So when I filled up fully with diesel a week ago, I managed to leave my filler cap behind. I drove the car back home without it and I haven't driven it since then. Somehow I didn't realise until today that I had no filler cap and it has rained a couple of times throughout the week, not heavy rain, but rain nonetheless.
I am now worried that I will have excessive amounts of water in my diesel. Because the car has been sat for a week, the water has probably separated from the diesel and is now sat at the bottom of the tank.
I had the idea to disconnect the fuel line between the fuel pump and the filter and then just turn on the ignition and let the fuel pump just pump out any water into a container until it pumps out diesel. However I cant seem to unclip the fuel line.
Because of this, I was wondering if I could get rid of the water by turning on the ignition for a bit and then draining any water that is pumped into the filter using the drain plug. I would repeat this process until there is no more water present.
Would this work? Or has anyone got any other ideas for what I should do?
Thanks
