TD5 De-CAT - MoT Issues

Yes but the idea is too remove the restriction that the EGR valve body causes in the inlet tract as well as to stop the crap going into your engine. A blanking plate alone is a half measure in my book especially having seen the crap that came out of my inlet manifold. Its worth doing but why not remove the whole gubbins and give your engine unrestricted fresh clean air?
 
My MOT is due in about 6 weeks or so. De-Cat & Straight Through fitted to a 2002 TD5 90 so shall update when its done.

None the less Alisport do a fake CAT that fits on to a decat down pipe, for off road use only ;)
 
Yes, I'd say the best thing is just to put it in - make sure it's all nice and clean underneath and there aren't any silly things that'll catch you out like light bulbs not working or no water in the windscreen washers - and see what they say. The worst that'll happen is that you'll be asked to fit a cat and come back for a retest.
 
No, don't worry about undertrays. I haven't got one either. When I got the Land Rover there were some bits of broken plastic hanging on here and there, but no actual tray. At a Land Rover friendly garage, you'll be fine.

Just thought I'd check with you all that an EGR removal, inter cooler clean and manifold clean followed by a de-cat and straight through exhaust kit will leave me with no MOT issues on my 55 plate 90.
I'm doing it all to get more power and I've been told by a couple of Landy mates that it may even up my MPG...

Like I said tho, I thought I'd best check with the forum kids first!
 
I've been fine for the past three MOTs with no EGR and CAT in my 2006 model. No one has said anything about it.
 
No problems with mine. It always helps to be on the right side of the tester too. Just incase
 
The EGR removal kit is purchased. I have been out there fiddling away under that bonnet and the second my new stuff arrives I shall get it slammed on. Snorkel and extra 6mm tube(breathers) tomorrow then EGR blanking to follow, still looking into a straight through exhaust. I may just replace the massive mid box but leave the little cat in place for now.
