So Ive established that my injector seals and washers are not the cause of my rising oil level - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55667
Ive decided that I'll go for a refurbished cylinder head from: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DI ... 0005.m1851
Ive looked and found this fairly helpful thread on removal of the physical head;- https://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-and ... l-how.html.
I guess Im asking is there any other advice or recommendations anyone would make on the topic.
Which head gasket set to use?
Do head locating dowels come with head gasket kits or need to buy separately?
Replace head and rocker shaft bolts?
Is gasket sealant required on any of the gaskets I'll be disturbing?
Any other parts to replace while head off - within reason?
I dont have locking pins for camshaft / crankshaft.
I understand that I'll have the engine at TDC on No1 cylinder when removing the camshaft pulley and I'll mark them to ensure that they go back in right place. Is there any possibility that the timing chain will come off the crankshaft sprocket when the tension is off it and the camshaft sprocket off? I.e, could I be putting it back together with the chain on the wrong position, or can this not happen? I'll not be moving the crankshaft once the chain is removed. (Not sure Ive asked that question very well, hope you understand!)
Any help or advice gratefully received.
