TD5 cut out whilst wading

500 mm is the hieght of the door seal. The air intake is closer to a meter high of the ground.

Apart from soaking the inside, a manual td5 disco will keep going utill water goes in the air intake or the ecu.

Anything over the 500 mm for an auto will comebinside the csr and fry the autobox ecu under the seat.

If I keep a steady wave I can wade to 2 foot without water coming in or cutting out.

Cheers.
All good until some twunt in a truck comes belting through the flood the other way.....
Which is exactly what happened to a TD5 Disco recently that ended up in a local garage, running on 4 and pushing out blue smoke.

BINGO !!!

Lots of folk become fools in and around water.
Sorry to hear about your disco.

Dont be sorry - not my Disco, still cant bring myself to trusting a TD5 as a daily driver,TDI is what I choose to rely on.Any water that gets near to the wheel centres I stay out of....

If your driving round in floods, wouldn't it be better to extend the breathers and put wading plugs in?

My snorkel is all sealed up and all the breathers extended, and wring plugs fit, anything over the bottom of my doors and water come poring in even when moving.

Ps it's a 300tdi 90

Dunno,I was told that peeps with 01761 phone numbers slept with one foot on the floor ?
When I asked why there was no explanation...

Frome is 01373. They have webbing and additional toes not too dis-similar from S71 and his fellow Dorsetonians.

The reason that those with 01761 numbers keep a foot on the floor is cos they has to be ready to get moving if the zombies from 01373 areas attack.

Quality ! Anywhere south of Radstock can be a worry....

So, given that it's a TD5 auto, no I didn't stall it, no I didn't get spray on the spark plugs (the D in TD means diesel), no I didn't get water in the air intake as the engine isn't wrecked is there anyone on here sober enough to provide an answer? I mean, do you read the op? Anyone?

I read it. The problem is the water went in to the petrol. This is common on the manuals. All freelanders do this.

to be honest, it can only be driver error
