TD5 clock conversion

Hi,
I am new to the landrover world and i currently have a 1988 90 with a 200tdi fitted but i am unable to wire my sat nav in as i dont think there is a speed pulse sensor.
Now i have thought there maybe a way to trick the sat nav into thinking it moving buy giving it a Tacho pulse but am unsure on this. If not i have been told that the TD5's use an electronic speedo with a speed sensor.
Would it be possible to change the clocks and speed cable in my 90 to the TD5 dash??? i have seen some going on ebay.

I run a Disco 300Tdi and use a Tom Tom one. It knows how fast I am going if I walk, run, ride a bike or even go out in my boat so I dont think it needs any speed pulse thingy. I could be wrong though.

thaks for the quick reply but mine is a pioneer built into my cd player. I know i have to have it connected as i tried it without before and no joy. Not sure though if i just needs some sort of pulse to tell it to start working or if it actually calculates the movement with it.
If not i could just use a tacho pulse from the alternator to trick it?? with a fuse just in case??? anyone shed some light??

I cant see it being to hard to swap to some TD5 clocks......

I thought they worked out your speed from satellite distance calculations. I know the speed readings on mine disappear when I go into a tunnel. Be worth checking with the manufacturer perhaps?

been hunting and it looks like i do need to VSS signal, so its now either swap the td5 clocks in with the electornic speedo or buy a speed pulse generator....

yeah i bought a speed pulse generator for my sat nav, but the td5 clock conversion is a better method in my opinion. Once you get some clocks its and easy swap and the look better too.

Whatever way you do this, the satnav will still have to "see" the satellites, and requires an antenna of some sort to have a clear view UP.
