Hi Guys, long time no see!! believe it or not I have had almost a full year of problem free motoring from the rangy and the disco....however.....
got a very strange problem with SWMBO Td5
went to it yesterday pressed the blipper and it unlocked, I drove down the road and realised I had no indicators, front windows wont open and all the other doors were still locked, also no heated rear window no rear wiper. When I got to work I tried to lock it with the blipper and it wouldn't so I locked it with the key, came back out blipper didn't work so opened the drivers door with the key and drove home. The drivers door actuator was replaced about a month ago and always worked fine, noticed this morning when you unlock with the key ( or lock( the system doesn't arm itself ( no flashing light on the dash) also the locking switch in the cab doesn't work either....any ideas....thanks in advance

unfortunately it seems that you have a problem or with the interior fusebox(IDM), or with the BCU(more likely this one as the alarm is playing up)... release the interior fusebox(under steering wheel) and check plugs for corrosion/water ingress, the same at the BCU(behind glovebox)...if no signs of water and all the fuses are fine we'll speak then cos there are some tests to do to identify which one of them is fubar'd.

Hi thanks for the reply, checked both fuse box and BCU cables seem ok no corrosion or water ingress, your help is much appreciated, Phil

make a detailed list with all the faults now, in rows.... and tell me: the wipers, hazards, direction indicators, fuel flap release switch, all are working normally? ...and did you check the fuses in the interior and engine bay fusebox?

if not check as follows:

links FL3, FL6 engine bay

fuses F1, 11, 15, 18, 21, 23, 27, 29, 33, 34 interior fusebox ... if all these are good IMO you need other BCU or IDM(quite uncertain here), to make sure a dedicated tester would help as it covers the BCU... dont you have a crossed B on the odometer?

Hi, all fuses in good order, FL9 is missing though?
there is no crossed B in the odometer, however.....
central locking relay is really hot and I seem to have 20.6v every where I look
back door seems superlocked as even though I have climbed through to open it it still wont from inside or out,
Not working are:
Rear wiper
Hazards
Indicators
Heated rear screen
fuel flap
Cigar lighter
front windows ( backs are fine)
no C/ locking
no red lamp on the dash for alarm
Interior lamp works but not on the door opening only if you manually switch it on
Thanks again Phil

FL 8 is for air suspension compressor ;)

As you describe it my first call would be the BCU, but i can't rule out the IDM neither, for that one i should be there myself to make some measurements, these are not cheap so you better dig tin nthis forum and the net, download a free RAVE and put your mind to work to eliminate one of them, what seems to be certain is that the BCU can be tested via dealer diagnostic machine, i'm not sure if nanocom or hawkeye covers that... you'll find there everything you need including diagrams and connector views... as an example something relevant from there:

AGGGGGHHHHHHH, just gone to it, it must of heard me, as now I have the red lamp flashing on the dash and the "B" crossed and flashing on the odometer now it wont crank nor is the fuel pump running any suggestions...except get a box of matches!!!!!

now i'm almost sure the BCU is fubar'd, the immobiliser became active now.... :fighting:
the only way in this case to remobilise it is by using the EKA, but as the BCU is gone it might nor work, i'm affraid you'll have to book a trailer too:mad:
if you dont have the EKA you can get it from a main dealer by proving the car is your's...but what you will get is the factory EKA and if the previous owner recicled it with tester it will not work again

Good morning,
Do you know what that crossed B means? just appeared on screen, cannot start, lock, unlock, red light is on, no clue. I would be really appreciated if you give me some ideas.
Cheers
