Hello all - said 'hello' on the new members section, but here I am again.....

Straight in with a problem (of course).

TD5 2001, just had new injector fitted (was staying open and flooding the cylinder, so locked up), and as part of the initial investigation I disconnected the starter without following the handbook...... doh!

Having read this now I see I should have had the ignition on until 15 seconds or less before disconnecting battery.

Having put it all back together the engine runs brilliantly - new injector fine, and new fuel filter at same time just to be on the safe side.

Now ..... when I turn on the side-lights the back-up siren alarm sounds, and no headlights at all.......... No alarm without attempting to use side light switch, and it turns off again when I switch off side light switch!

Engine keeps running fine - just can't use it at night I guess.

I've reset using the security code and key/door.

I've synchronised the key fob - battery out/in and then press 4 times.

I've tried the reset on the 'battery disconnect' alarm - although the handbook says it should reset itself anyway.

Extremely odd. Anyone every had this?

btw the main alarm doesn't sound when I 'break in' through an armed door - just the back up siren.

Help/ideas would be great! Cheers, A

Well.......... in case it comes in useful to anyone suffering similar;

While swapping and checking the 'sounder' relay on the fuse board, I waggled the 'Lights' relay (centre one) and what do you know - full horn alarm sounded - which I cancelled with the fob, and LIGHTS!! No wailing siren!!!

Clearly the lighting circuit provides the live feed to the back-up alarm trigger somehow - this Lights relay had 'failed' completely unrelated to any f the other work being done (apart from maybe the standing idle for a couple or weeks) and gave a totally spurious appearance of being a consequence of something we'd done with the injector/starter/glow plugs....

Very happy bunny; thanks for all the feedback......oh.... :D A
