once again got a problem with my 90 TD5.

Since a frosty morning last week, my td5 has struggled to start, prior to this it would start first turn of the key, no issues.

but since the frost its like air in the system, i can purge the system 3or 4 times sometimes longer, then it will start, and you get unburnt diesil smoke from the exhaust.

once running and you turn off and start it again will fire first time, leave it 5-10 minutes you have to purge it quite a few times again.

it has also cut out when coming to a stop on a few ocassions if its starved of fuel. purge the system serveral times it starts.

Anyone any ideas?

just ordered new filter, return valve and copper washers and o rings.

but just wondering if you guys have any further ideas what to check.

By purge, I take it that you mean you have to bleed at the injectors?

If you purge the system, you are emptying everything out!

OK, so it's a bit pedantic, but where are you bleeding from, injectors or fuel pump?

Do you keep your foot off the go pedal when you are turning it over?

How long do you get the white smoke, or is that constant?

You can only purge a td5 through the ecu , You can't crack a pipe at the injectors or pump
