Right the td5 struck again. Last week she was a cnut to start purged it and foot flat to floor while cranking and eventually started. Then up until today fired first turn of the key and ran as it should. Earlier whilst at some traffic lights she sounded lump as though on 4 cylinders not in a place able to stop i had to keep going. Down on power obviously down to cylinder down then it cut out. Tried to restart but had tobhave foot to floor for it to fire. It did this a few times on the way home but got me home. Any ideas what to check or swap out first 🤷‍♂️

The best would be to plug in a compatible scanner to see if there are any fault codes to rule out a crank sensor or ECU failure, if you cant do that try the following
1. do this test https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/check-td5-fuel-pump-hp.358086/
2. check the ECU red plug for oil and if there is replace the injector loom

if these are ruled out the injector copper washers are suspects or who knows what, without a proper diagnosis it's just a guessing game

The engine light isn't coming on bit should still store codes ? Also would fuel pump cause the misfire ? I was leaning to injector loom or crank sensor but unsure til I have a proper nosey in the daylight. Don't suppose there's a list of helpful fellas with scanners on here ? Would give a good drink for plugging in rather than a garage

Even a bit of oil there means that you need a new injector loom cos the oil has bad effect at the upper plug too and if you want it to last get genuine

There was mention in the now defunct LRO Magazine of a guy selling an upgraded loom for this, with very good feedback on it.

I think that was the Pace 4x4 injector loom. It claims to be sealed to stop the oil going up the loom.

The genuine injector loom is no longer available from LR. I've had the Britpart AMR6103G loom for 3+ years without issue.
