Td5 15p egr modulator plugs

Hi guys

Have a 15p td5 defender

Blanked the egr and want to unplug the modulators as stated on the alive website apparently it's two plugs brown and green?

Anyway could anyone tell me where these are as I'm scared to unplug the wrong one ?

Ill try my best!

Yellow pipe on the modulator plugs into the brake vaccum pipe. They should be on Y comnector, one from each modulator.

Both blue pipes get blanked off

Follow the Alive guide which is what i used.

Do test your brakes somewhere safe when your done aswell.

I mean the electronic connection plugs for the egr... The blanks have already been fitted

Yes i have read that but at the bottom there is a picture of two plugs which they say to unplug ( sorry black and green ) electronic plugs

The two valves are on the drivers side inner wing. If you look closely they each have a plug connected to a lead which is into the main engine wiring loom, it tees off about half way down the inlet manifold, the loom then goes to the injector plug on the front lh corner of the head.
I disconnected mine but put them back recently when I had starting problems, as others have said take care when blanking the vacuum pipe the brakes rely on the vacuum, I put very short piece of silicon tube over the connection and plugged it with a tapered bit of silicone which was in the nozzle of an old tube of clear silicone I smeared it with silicon and left it to set.

Thanks Raywin all sorted now... I've left them unplugged for now landy started first swing this morning so don't think they have influenced bad starting

Yes you are right I don't think they had any influence on the starting but I was desperate by then, and I worried they might be causing some problem.
To be honest I don't notice any difference connected or taken off.
 
the solenoids get the vacuum feed from the vac pump.. when the EGR becomes active the solenoids get power and slide over to allow vac to another pipe
you can remove these solenoids remove all plastic hoses and plug up the T piece then seal up the electric plugs

Going to leave them in place for now but definitely leave the plugs off... More electricity stuff not to worry about
 
As mentioned though the anti diesel brigade are all around these days, while unlikely, there is a chance some asshat politician will decided EGRs must be fitted. Ive kept all my EGR crap in a box

That has to be the way now, the failure to meet emission targets will more than likely be met with the usual knee jerk reactions and taxes. I think any one who takes off a EGR or fits a de cat exhaust should find a safe place in the shed for these parts.
 
safe place in the shed is a must
not only for emissions but incase to sell the vehicle and purchase another TD5

you still need to seel up the plugs though
I removed all my solenoids engine bay looks cleaner .as well as more room to swing the spanners when you remove your intake manifold

its not a full EGR delete unless you clean your manifold out
most engines I have done the intake ports have been choked up including my td5
