right, dropped the fuel tank down because of a leek then found the fuel pump and sender unit was cracked where the black connector goes into the body bearing in mind she was running fine prior to this, so went and bought a new unit of which landrover had my trousers down at nearly 300 quid put it all together and presto she will not even fire the pumps running the diesels getting to the engine but nothing so dropped the tank and tried the old unit back on and still nothing both pumps seem to pressure up ok but the engine will not come to life ive tried everything swapped pipes the lot what seemed a simple job has turned into a nightmare help please

i fink on a TD5 yer need to prime the system by flooring the throttle and cranking the injun fer about 30 sec?
fer a definitive answer, ask CharlesY

You need to let it prime for longer - at least 5 mins of pump running before you start cranking. As long as you connected the pipes up correctly it is unlikely to be anything other than air in the fuel rail.

to prime the fuel system on a TD5. you turn yer ignition to full on [not swinging tho] and leave it on fer 3 minutes....the system will then go into an auto purge mode, and do a purge on the system for about 3 minutes. sumtimes ya gotta do this auto purge twice if ya really got a lot o air in the system

thanks guys got it running now but jesus you have to wined it over cheers, give me an isuzu anyday,

I was at a garage working on a Range Rover, they asked me about fuelling problems on a common rail 3.1 Trooper engine. They said even the main dealers dont want to work on them - nice
