So yesterday the oil light flickered on and stayed on for a while before extinguishing. Probably due for another service (have a service kit on order) but I've been keeping an eye on the levels and dipstick (which is a pain to get an accurate read on with the TD5) which reads just over max, which is where it was last time I checked. The oil looks reasonably clean, the drip on the paper test leaves a fairly uniform spread with no ominous rings indicating diesel contamination and the oil doesn't smell too 'dieselly'.
I plugged in the nanocom but the output gives you everything but oil pressure (which surprises me) So what is the dash light registering? Is it just low oil or does it monitor pressure?
Engine sounds sweet. Running fine, nanocom picking up nothing out of the ordinary...

is an oil pressure light, not oil levels. Should check oil at least once a week minimum. I sometimes check every day as routine as all machines get checked every day. If you were to let your oil get so low that the low pressure light comes on because the pump can’t get enoug oil I think you are going to have a problem.

Could be the oil pressure sensor. Mine used to come on as the engine reached running temperature and stayed on.
I was worried the oil pump was struggling with the oil thinning as it warmed up? New sensor and no problems ever since..
