Wife's been using the freelander now for a couple of weeks seems to be running fine getting between 450/500 miles to a tank it's had egr kit fitted and silicone hoses so am now looking at a tuning box but was wondering how much difference it would make to the mpg
 
I used to have one of these tuning boxes ,and all they do is feed more fuel into the engine ,and if you have the normal turbo pipes they will give out quicker as some of the diesel lies in them .ok might have been a bit quicker but I did not notice and mpg difference but this might have been due to my lead foot on the right.
 
I had a Ronbox fitted but then sold it and went for a remap instead. I personally prefer the way a remap drives.

Either a remap or a tuning box will show up ANY existing problems you have, even if you don't think you have any. Took me 6 months to sort everything out, and I have an '06 TD4.

Yeah did wonder if a remap would be a better option, as the wife has an 80 mile commute everyday on mixture of A roads and motorway. Have noticed its a bit sluggish at junctions it's an 04 td4 auto

Mine is also an auto. Can't say it is sluggish though :D

I drive it slowly though. You can't drive fast in London.
My fuel consumption has dropped, but that is because I have larger wheels and they have geared the car up a little, so I'm not driving quite as many miles as I did before for the same distance if that makes sense.
But before I changed the tyres it was doing 40+ mpg on a long run. Now it has dropped to about 35mpg on a run.
 
Yeah sluggish was probably the wrong word more hesitant , could be me not used to auto lol it's fine once rolling. Not overly concerned by the fuel consumption but as we keep getting told every little helps lol ,and a bit more power wouldn't hurt lol on the odd occasion I'm allowed to drive it
 
In standard form it is 3 whole seconds slower to 60 than a manual. :D

If yours is hesitant, then there is probably a problem somewhere. Best to get it sorted first before increasing the power and torque.
 
I'm lucky now to get 400 out of my '06 auto. The lift kit increases frontal area, as do the larger tyres.
The larger tyres mean I record about 6 miles less per 100 miles, which equates to 24 miles over 400.
Then the tyres themselves add an extra 2mpg or so due to their tread pattern.

None of which helps fuel economy.
 
I don't have a ron box and I've been getting 580+ to a tank for a while now.
