Hi everyone,

My wife had been wanting a freelander for a long time so we went car shopping and found a 55 plate td4 station wagon at a local dealer which we picked up this saturday.

However on our way home it sounded like the window was open so we stopped and i quickly realised that the back passenger window was sliding up and down loosely like it had come off the runners!

Whilst I was fiddling around with the window I noticed a constant loud humming noise coming from the rear drivers side wheel arch, which i now believe to be the fuel pump.

To top things off as we got home the SRS airbag light came on! Grrr!

I rang the dealer straight away and as yiu can imagine they werent really that interested, I told them about the fuel pump racket (louder than the engine ticking over!?) And they told me this is normal!!

Im taking the car back tommorrow for them to look at but id just like to kmow if im right in thinking the fuel pump shouldn't be making this racket as I believe they will be trying to fob me off big time!!

any advice would be greatly apprieciated!

Thanks in advance!
Ben

My td4 makes the same sound.

I was told by the chap that I bought it off that it's because a cheaper fuel pump has been fitted instead of a very very expensive LR one.

Thanks for the reply, I just find it odd thats its so loud, sounds like the windscreen washer jet is permanently running!
I dont think it was doing it when we test drove it, would have set alarm bells ringing if id heard it :-/

At least the other problems are obvius when I point them out to the dealer!

For what it's worth, I replaced mine last year with an OEM part and can barely hear it with the engine not running. Can't hear it at all once the engine is running.
