hi iv got an intermittent fault, poor idle on start up ranging from, running ok, to poor idle gets better when warm, to a judder ruff idle and you can feel it though the seat. sometimes slightly raised idle speed.
white smoke if revved smell of un burnt fuel
starts first time every time and have tried couple of bottles diesel magic
I was thinking injector, fuel pressure sensor, before I got start doing leek back test ect
i had it on a diagnostic machine only fault stored was
A ''faulty coolant temperature senor''
cleared it didn't come back on when engine was started but its running ok at min
would this sensor course my problems
any help appreciated

Any sensor fault can cause a degree of running issues. So any suspect component needs changing, if running problems are to be avoided.

thanks for reply can this be done without draining down cooling system
I was thinking disconnect sensor, loosen take out thumb over hole slip other one in quick
minimal loss of coolant top up

That's the way, although if you have the new sensor in your hand, there's no need for the thumb part of your plan.
Make sure the engine is cold and leave the cap on. This will reduce the flow of coolant to more of a trickle. ;)

No need to drain the system or disconnect the battery. That sounds like Haynes manual instructions to me.

why is as soon as you press ''buy it now'' the bloody thing run ok
I have notice the smell of un burnt fuel is from front end so possible fbh that isn't working
and when it running ok and you turn the ignition off it shuts down clean
when it's running lumpy turn the ignition off total different sound even lumpy shut down

hi little up date
iv ordered a coolant temperature sensor its arrived but I haven't had chance to fit it yet
while I was waiting I had a good look around the engine couldn't find anything amiss
thankfully couldn't find any leaks to HP pump either but I will check again when I fit the coolant sensor
but good news :) after reading on here I decided to removed and cleaned he the air intake temperature sensor
this has made a big difference better idle more low down drive to it
touch wood its been good for two days now much nicer to drive
im still going to fit the coolant sensor and will probably clean the inlet manifold out again while its off
is there any special way or product too clean the MAP sensor
while im on a roll
cheers
