FBHs can be used to heat collant as on the Freelander but really come into their own when ...

... fitted with a timer or remote control, so you can switch them on, say, half an hour before you leave home on that cold, frosty morning.

... used as a space heater to pump hot air into the cab, ideal for heating the vehicle when the engine is switched off.

Hi Blippie,

I agree with you but in my case it's a little silly to start it up half an hour before leaving as the car is parked in the garage at night, so I don't fancy to have it started in the garage (smell and fumes), so when it is a cold morning I put the heated seat in action.
As for the space heater to pump hot air into the cabine, well, when I arrived at destination I am not going to stay sit in the car until it is cooled down just for the kicks of being able to have the Webasto give some hot air. When arrived at destination I get the heck out of the car and leave it as it is. But of course these are worthful possibilities if parked outside all night and/or one has to stay in the car under any circumstances such as cab drivers etc...

Absolutely Will, if you have a garage then you won't benefit from the best bit about a FBH! But then again, you won't need to as you won't get iced up!

If you don't think the decreased time to running temperature is worth it, you can pull the fuse or disconnect the FBH without any side effects.

Hi Blippie,

Being able to disconnect at random the FBH is something I'm looking for since a coule of years. My best option so far is to put a switch on the wire that comes from (or goes towards) the outside temperature sensor, that way I can switch it off when doing short trips and switch on if longer trips are ahead, (or just disconnect it pure and simple) didn't know the FBH had a separate fuse or is there a fuse on the unit itself ?

Well i should have said a warm wecome Mondo and welcome as you already know were kinda stuck with the curlin tongs and hairdresser bit, but if ya look at ma avatar no good to me,
