you beat me to it:)

with your mpg dropping , and the milage that you have done,i would deff go for the injector cleaner first ,

good luck

And fyi. the BMW engine we have in our Td4 is the M47.
And it is the EGR, not ERG.

Re the injector cleaner, never done so but that's one of the first things I'm going to do. I checked some from Marly, it's called Fuel Flush, but they describe it to put it straight into the feedpipe of the engine (after the fuel filter and before the common rail I'd say) or else to fill the fuelfilter with it and than run the engine with it, when engine is warm give some good shots of gas they say. But I'm not going to disconnect all that sh... again if there are makes existing where you can add it in the fueltank. (Of course it will have less result compared to the pure product in the injector as Marly says), but better something than nothing, right ??:)

Hi Hmhulshof ,

Naughty eh ???:p :) :)

Well ming, can only join you in your reaction as I don't really understgand what he means ?? Sorry MHM. (On purpose I put some 'code' words, understandable for UK'ers, to get some reaction....:D :D :D ). But I feel it sad that foreigners who showed their goodwill by buying UK products in the (vain) hope of saving the UK economy get this kind of reactions. If I wasn't smarter I better would have gone shopping amongst a good Japanese make ? What do you think ??;) :) :) :)

Hi ming,

Not to worry, as the car passed the yearly MOT thumbs up it's going to serve me for another (and personally hope many many more) year for sure. Also in view of the age of all the concerned parties (me and the car:D ) I think I won't have to make a choice anymore. Hope this one will stick with me for another 10 years or more. After all, it's a LR (only by badge as some say...;) ), and think I'm bitten by the microbe.:p :) :) :)

Had this problem twice - two different vehicles. Turned out to be a faulty fuel pump - the one in that stupid cowling beside the filter - on both occasions.

Hi to all freelander owners, Until recently my 2000 Freelander TD4 had been running like a dream :) but now it has become very sluggish. It takes an eternity to build up any decent speed and when it hits a hill - forget it even the artics thunder past. One of my mates suggested that it might be a problem with an air flow meter. Does anyone know  how much these things cost to fix and also if there are any independent garages around Glasgow who could do this as I expect a franchised dealer will charge an arm and a leg. Many thanks in anticipation.

HI I HAVE A NEW EAR KIRKINTILLOCH

Hi,

I've had my Freelander TD4 since new, Its a 03 plate with 59,000 on clock. Ive just noticed when I reach 4100 rpm in each gear there is no power? Is there a limiter on each gear stopping me from going into the red zone or do I have a problem?
Anyone help?

Thanks
Andy.

I got the same problem , found the tube next to the air intake is torn open. I came to Ipswich to pick my son now

I put a tape on the tube from 99p shop as it was nearby
Not sure how long it holds. Needs to see in A12 on my way back home . Mine has done 58k

Thanks

The tape wont last as it gets very hot and blow out black sticky goo buy a new complete rubber turbo inlet rubber hose ,undo the jubly clips clean the goo with a rag and fit the new hose . . . .easy job even for a stupid Earthling

After doing bit more reading and research, the hose that is damaged is inter cooler hose.. Just wondering how easy it is to replace? and also would this cause the loss of power?

Thanks

As Ming says - yes, easy to replace - two clips.

If the hose is split, you will be loosing turbo boost pressure, so yes, this will cause lack of power. You may also hear a hissing noise when revving.

Also Earthling . . . .I should mention ,after fitting new hose , just check to see if there isnt anything that rubs the hose , this hole is normaly caused by a pretruding stud from the engine , I normaly put a grommit over this otherwise it wont be long before it will be holed again, also check the other 2 hoses. . . . .PARP ! ! ! (OOPS sorry just checking ma messerator fing )
