I'll get it on the stands the jump up and down on it for a while and see if it gives.
That's as good as i can do on the driveway.
Not looking forward to it though.

This a major undertaking even in a fully equipped workshop using two post lift etc. Please ensure that the vehicle is fully supported on the chassis rails before venturing underneath.

p.s: bjs are ball joints.

So don't do it, send it to a garage, you obviously aren't capable!
If you think that's a major job even on a lift you need to get out more! Have you ever done it? Do you know how the subframe is bolted on and what is attached to it? Do you have any idea how the ird is held on? If you think it's that difficult or dangerous don't do it! But it doesn't mean that others aren't capable! I would expect to have one out in roughly two hours on axle stands. That's how long it took to get the gearbox out give or take, yes on axle stands! And I put it back in in the dark!

It annoys me when the assumption is you can't do it! It will take most a lot longer but with a bit of thought and research it should be fine;)

I'm a have a go type, that's how you learn.
on my 90 i've just done an engine change, a transfer box change twice. Gearbox out and back in, a frame and trailing arm bushes, new brake calipers etc all round, new heater box and re setting controls, sorted various electrical issues, new window winder mechanisms, alternator, and a few other things.
Now admittedly i had some help with the engine change, and the use of a lifter and a mechanic when i shouted on the gearbox when doing the main seal, but other than that i had a lot of good help and advice from members on here.
The fact that i'm not looking forward to it is simply 'as stated' safety.. and for thati will probably overdo it lol, and jump on it a few times before i get under as stated.. but other than that, i'll get stuck in again with whatever help i can get advice wise from fellow members on here first.
That's why i ask question... a lot.
The idea of this is to get it running and sell it, hopefully recoupe some of the massive costs of sorting the defender... but the mrs has her eye on it also.

If you've done that you'll be fine! With puppies like that I'd let her have it:D

i'm gradually building up my tools supply also.. if a job needs doing and i'm gonna pay someone to do it, i'd rather spend some of the money on the tools i need and try.. have got them for another time then. Just got a nice snap on 1/2" drive impact wrench for some of the more stubborn bits. Just need sockets etc to go with now.

As for the puppies.. i'll give em a squeeze for you shortly.

The only puppy I get to squeeze is big, ginger and furry, with big teeth:(
