Obviously, it depends on the individual car, type of driver, driving conditions and what servicing may have been done etc. But, is there any evidence to suggest that the earlier (yr2000+) TD4 models might be in need of some major servicing when they reach the 60k-80k mileage?

I've seen a few advertised with clutch replacements, CV joint replacements etc. etc. and wondered if there is common trait of problems at that mileage?

No more so than other motors of similar age/use from other manufacturers I would have thought.

Just about any car I plan on it needing clutches etc. by 10years/100k. Gaylanders could well be needing IRD/VCU replacements, a cost that can make some people think of buying a replacement motor. I watched one sell last week, 2001 registered with 193k on the clock and upon cursory examination there was nothing seriously obviously wrong with it.

Officially at 10 years all the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners should be replaced, and that sure wouldnt be cheap.

Servicing requirements are the same but after 2001my the later IRD ratio put less strain on the transmission. Clutch life heavily depends on the type of journeys being done, urban motoring with all it's gearchanges/parking/clutch slip can wear out a td4 clutch in 60-80k, top gear mileage can potentially give it twice the life.
