Hey guys,

Whatsup. Nice forum thanks for having me here I got my car 2 months ago, and yesterday I noticed when I took the key out of my ignition my fuel pump kept buzzing. At first I thought it was normal but it ran for over 3 hours.

I've checked the 1st relay and the 10th fuse and when I pull them and connect the battery, its still running.

Anyone have an idea?

Whatsup Nodge, its a Freelander 1 pre facelift from 2003.

A 2003 should just have one pump at the back, just in front of the RH rear wheel.

Pulling the relay should stop the pump.
Edit.
It's relay No1 in the engine bay fuse box.

Yes. I hear the pump buzzing at the rear right wheel. Ive pulled relay R1 but it still keeps buzzing. Tried replacing it with R2 but still nothing. Also tried disconnecting the manuel switch for the fuel pump that sits behind the fuse box. Still didnt fix it.

Just pulled all of the fuses 1 by 1 to see if the leaking power is coming from there. It wasnt. Anyone know if there is a 3rd fusebox somewhere? Or relais?

Doesn't it stop running if you remove relay No1? If it doesn't, it must be a wiring fault, as the fuel pump relay only feeds the pump, and nothing else.

Is it definitely the fuel pump??
Does it have a fuel burning heater? Not sure how this feeds the pump but it may be faulty and sending a feed.

If Relay 1 removed and still pumping, someone has added some wiring I fear!!!

Nope, doesn't stop. I'm afraid of a wiring fault too. It is going in tommorow for service and I hope they can find it and its not too big of an issue. But thought if it was something simple I could fix it myself.

Anyways thanks guys!

Good luck.

Don't give the garage an open cheque!!!
Diagnostics can take hours and they will milk it!!..
Mke sure you give them a fixed price not to exceed before they call you.

Will do thanks :). My father has his RR sport 3.6 TDV8 in service there and my mom has her Disco 3 TDV6 so I trust they will do that :)

Problem found :)

The original relay foot was broken, so the previous owner put the relay in a new place, and low and behold, the relay foot was corroded. So they replaced the foot and relay and I can pick it up tommorow :)
