the wires you are talking about are the heated seats the wires required are under the plastic kick panel as you get in the car it has a "ratchet "type clip to it and it should have white and white with yellow wires in the wiring the other set of connections are at the foot well drivers side to which you add the wires YMQ500870 purchased from john craddock for about a fiver ok

Its not my heated seat wires as that's plugged in ;)

hiya

ive been asked this a few times and just wished to update this subject in one go.

my freelander is a 2002 TD4 3 door auto,it was originally a commercial van and converted it to have internal rear seats and trim.

wishing to fit cruise control and with sound advice i found i needed the steering wheel controls, a master on/off switch which on the 2002 model is fitted next to the instrument panel and not in the front centre console.Lastly the cruise control ECU which is fitted under my drivers seat, the wires were hidden under the drivers seat carpet, there is a small slit and the wires were just tucked underneath with a small plug on it, not to be confused with the fitment of heated seats or a DVD

All the wiring was in my FL and didnt have to convert anything, the wires were behind the blanking plug on the instrument panel, i bought a steering wheel from ebay which had the radio and cruise control paddle control switches already fitted, and the ecu i also got from ebay, second hand for around £35.00.

I think in total it cost me around £100 for the entire job, i just plugged it all in and it worked without having to get it activated by Land rover's T4 diagnostics computer.

On my investigation of this my FL is a pre face lift model and is an auto as im not sure if it will work with a manual gearbox and there are extra wires already fitted to the autobox that are not fitted to the manual box.

hope this may have helped anyone.

hi,

yes resolved this a while back, some 5 x years ago, lol , however it's not 100% as there are problems with some facelift models not having the wiring there , so got to check this first

i done a write up a while back on how and what to look for

not a good idea if u don't mind me saying of putting ur mobile number onto an open forum, assume ur not a company

Fitting CC should work straight out of the box, I don't know if there is some issue using the rover control unit (black box) I struggled to find the steering wheel controls and the land rover control unit (white box) so I purchased them from American ebay, I plugged them all in and hey presto it works!

If anybody is interested there is a complete freelander leather steering wheel on ebay with both radio and cruise control switches fitted.

hi

the td4 and V6 ecus are different, if u buy second hand ecus it doesn’t need programming and will indeed work plug and play

glad it worked ok , can’t believe it was 2012 when i fitted mine

Hello Gary,
was wondering if you‘d have the parts number for the master switch, having a 02 td4 automatic as well? Having the paddles installed
and a box already for a while now.
Matthias

Hello again mate, yes thanks, I have read that thread. Interesting to see that the CC master switch plug has 3 or 4 wires.

Anyway some news, I've been looking all afternoon for this sodding master switch plug and still can't find it. It may be right up under the dash, which will require the dash to come out to get to and I'm not too keen on doing that. But having put everything back together to use the car and not wanting to have wasted both yours and my weekend, curiosity got the better of me and I fed a fused power feed to pin 7, white/yellow wire, on the CC ecu, as per my Rave diagram..... and low and behold I have cruise control... of sorts.

It doesn't work as per the handbook, but it works in a way to at least make it useable. With mine, when you energise the CC ecu the dash light doesn't come on until you press the resume button, you can then drive at a desired speed, press the set button and the cruise works, you can increase the speed on the set button, you can accelerate to a higher speed, back off and it'll pick up again when you get down to the set speed, it also disengages the CC when you touch the brakes. But if you the hit the resume button to activate the CC again, the dash light goes out and you can't use the CC again until you've turned the main switch off and on again.

I think this is most probably due to not having the correct switch and wiring loom, so hopefully some kind sole on here will be able to furnish me with the necessary info or if I could get hold of a correct wiring diagram, I could work it out and wire it up myself. I would prefer to have it as per the factory setup. Cheers again Chris.
hello
did you ever find the plug for the master switch harness ?
