Hi readers, hopefully someone can help with my query.

2001/2 Freelander TD4 Automatic is the vehicle in question.

I (very) foolishly lost the only key we have for it, so I know the ramifications of what needs changing.

Looking around it appears that there are two different types of ECU setup, one for Petrol and the other for Diesel.

Can someone confirm this for me. I have seen that there are two differing part numbers so I believe this is the case?

I did a search on the forum but could not find a solid answer.

TIA

Why not just order a replacement key that fits the car and have it programmed to work? It'll be no more expensive than replacing everything needed to correct the situation, without all the work that goes with it.

If you want to change the required components you'll need:
The ignition lock, door lock, boot lock and fuel cap, the keys to fit them and the fobs.
You'll also need the correct engine EDC (TD4 auto), the alarm ECU and CCU, all of these need to be from the same vehicle as the keys/locks.

So to save a lot of work and messing about, just order some replacement keys and have them coded.

I lost the key very close to my home and some of my neighbours not exactly the most honest of people..........So I would like to change the lock set either way

Plus there is no MOT on the car, so I would have to Transport it to my local dealer.

I'm not worried about the amount of work, I just want to make sure I buy the correct setup for this vehicle.

Thanks.
