td4 dual mass

right, what symptoms do you get when the dual mass flywheel is on the way out?
on setting off im getting 3 knocks from somewhere down there. literally "knock, knock, knock"
then occasionally i get the same knock over a bump or pothole (but not always)
i dont get the knock when changing up or down gears or under braking.
its bizarre and i cant figure out what it is!
was thinking flywheel, or maybe engine mount.
theres also a vibration above 50mph. (i do have a rear wheel bearing thats shot and needs replacing, but its not that thats causing this vibration, its more front end somewhere)
any idea's?

Sounds more engine mount/front suspension/track rod end. But what do I know?

Duel mass failing is typically most noticeable at idle. Sometimes there a rattle when the clutch is at or around the biting point. This maybe accompanied by a slight snatch as the clutch engages. Your symptoms sounds suspension related. ARB drop links are a common one to check.

Might be worth checking the mounts on the diff, gearbox and engine.

mine just stared doing similar, but I think it Anti roll bar drop links. At £15.50 for the pair, they are getting changed, and if its not that, they would have needed changing soon anyway because they only last 2-3 years anyway.
