Apologies if this has been brought up before I've checked the forum and can't find anyone describe the same issue as I'm having.

It works fine in automatic no errors pop up

From cold it works fine. As it warms up the below will occur.

If I start a journey with semi auto it works fine for a while then will throw the HDC and F4 I can't control gear change but works fine as if it was in full auto 'D'

It's happens more sudden when I move from semi auto back to full auto
There is no limp mode ever.
It works fine but shows the HDC and F4

If I move it back to auto 'D' it works like normal but with F4 and HDC
If I move it back to semi auto again it works just as it did in auto but with F4 and HDC unable to control gear change

Hopefully this will help with narrowing it down to something precise.

I don't have much in the way of funding so I really hope it's something simple.
I'm going to buy some carb cleaner for the contacts in the barrel plug tomorrow to see if it resolves but I'm skeptical, hence posting here for some ideas in case. :'(

Mine does this sometimes, although much more random in nature. I've put it down to a failure in the gear lever sensors, somewhere. They are Hall Effect sensors, which are difficult to test. I've given up looking, and use the normal auto modes instead.

Confirmed today to be as you say. The gear selector unit thing
I cleaned the barrel.

Parked up I put it into semi auto and back to D firmly a few times again and again the HDC and F4 popped up.

I remember seeing something regarding the pin that holds the gear in position wearing down but I can't find it again and I really want this sorted.

I've found this and think a clean or refresh of it will do the trick. I'm trying to find a way to get to it and possible issues when removing and reinstalling

Possibly, allowing 2 sensors to be active at the same time?
