I've changed many an air filter in my time and would usually change this one in a flash.
It was serviced 6,000 miles ago by a BMW main dealer, service book stamped and signed. Unipart air filter rather than BMW off the their shelf and when I checked with their service dept yesterday they didn't change the PCV/crankcase breather!!!!!!!
The turbo vent hose looks so old and crappy it's probably original and the car has done 64,000 miles.
This looks more than a 6,000 mile old filter to me but as this is my first Td4 I don't know how crappy they get from general road use only.
I'm suspecting is was a check over service and they didn't do the 12,000 work at all but I could never prove it.
Only reason for not changing this filter is that an official service is required in 8 weeks time to continue the warranty (although I could refit this one and keep an 8 week old one for a future change when out of warranty.
If it looks good for a Td4 I'll leave it.
Then again, perhaps I should pop out for a Fram later on.
Many thanks for any opinions.
Edit: service was prior to my purchasing the vehicle.
