thats what the guy at dealer ship said it is one less restriction they tested one before they did it at he engine was a lot better.i think its the only air filter i no that as this type of gauze on it

Yeah wonder why they felt it necessary to fit it other than a pre filter but srange as I've never come across one like it before any ideas???????

if were talking the main air filter, is this gauze only on land rover parts?? as I bought a filter last week, no gauze on it, and there was none on the one I took out, and have to say my car goes better/faster

Yeah the gauze on the air filter all the ones I've fitted have had it on and were not lr parts. More info needed so why put it on some and not others???

LMAO.

That gauze is about the coarsest fibred material you can get. Its flow restriction will be nil. I mean ZERO. Its there to prevent larger debris clogging up in between the paper vanes on the main filter element. - Granted, if the filter is years old and the gauze is completely clogged with dirt then it will cause a restriction, but without the gauze, that dirt just coats the paper element anyway, so there will be no actual change in air flow.

Anyone claiming that a car goes noticeably better between a standard new filter and a new filter with the gauze removed is talking out of their hoop.

larger debris its an air filter no more than small bits of dust go through

hiya

i bought an air filter with thengauze on, emailed the manufacturer and they advised me it stops all the larger bits getting in a prolongs the life of filter, so left it on, i think it was a oem one but not from land rover, bearmach i think

but also agree the egr blanking and new crankcase bmw conversion also the small turbo filter at the back will defentely bring some power back to the engine

along with a synergy bix and it transformed my td4 engine

put a pic of mine on here with the sleeve and left it on

gary
