td4 is one of the better ones.

having sed that - a 2006 shouldn't have them yet and should still be under warranty.

the td4 is a good motor auto or manwell , the freelander is the best in its group. . .dunt listen to all the sob storys on this forum as peeps come here mostly if they have problems. . .jist make sure all servicing has bin done un if buying from a good garage get a warrenty, un ya wont regret it. . . .

It puts my mind at rest a bit.....
I have bought the TD4 2.0 Sport 5dr auto, which replaces my1.8XEi petrol which I rejected after 6 months due to various faults and previous history. LR gave me a full refund and have been very helpful to be fair to them, but that does not excuse them for selling a pile of junk in th first place!

if yu have an auto gearbox - they run very hot, resulting in change-up/down problems after a while. Yu can get suplimentary coolers which keep the 'box running cooler, so yu do not get oil degradation, resulting gear shift problems.
