Done a quick search and some folks saying that its ok to use the TD (i.e. 19J) exhaust with a 200tdi engine, whats peoples thoughts - is performance affected or are they near enough the same systems?

When I first bought my 90, it had a 300tdi conversion (with 300 downpipe) welded to the td system. After making my own exhaust out of larger bore pipe (2.75 inch) there was a marginal performance increase...and it sounds better :D

You can use the td system in conjunction with what WLM said above but the correct sized pipe would be beneficial.

As stated a TD exhaust should be fine. On Friday I completed my new exhaust system, it was cobbled together a couple of years ago when I dropped the 200tdi in, with no silencers and a nice exit out of the side - just to the right of the drivers door. I have now chopped up the front and intermediate pipes from a standard 200tdi Defender system to fit the steve parker like down pipe. There are two flex joins and two silencers in the system and it is a hell of a lot better than it was when it was straight through. Much quieter too and a much improved turbo response.

Fitted my 90 with a 200 tdi 4 years ago keeping all the original exhaust with no noticeable
difference in performance to any other 200,however motor is from a defender with the high turbo position.
