Tank bacteria

For a large part of my career I was involved with water treatment much of which was to do with biocides, I remember a story that did the rounds in the industry a few years ago. A supertanker full of diesel was sailing around the world waiting for the price to rise before unloading its cargo, when it docked the diesel was ruined, the tanks were described as being full of black slime, as a result of its time in the ship the biocide was depleted and the bugs got active, very active.
