Hi Guys, I have recently bought a freelander but almost immediately the rear window regulator died. I rep[laced it with a full unit from local breakers and now everything works in reverse . Up button on dash lowers it. Rear handle raises it an inch when window is down and rear wiper only works when window is lowered .
I have trawled this site for answers and found similar faults but not got an answer.
I have tried recalibrating numerous times but no difference .
Its driving me mad now so any help would be appreciated ........
 
did you reconnect the wires properly ??

how about disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to let everything reset - then reconnect - glass should go down on its own when reconnecting
 
Hi, Thanks for the reply. its a mutiplug that can only go one way and i even checked the wiring against the old loom on the replacement part. (Identical ).
Tried disconnecting the battery about a dozen times now for varying lengths of time, when i reconnect the window goes up.....
 
that sure is odd
could there be a microswitch or something somewhere that is open instead of being closed - or vice versa ????

If there is a microswitch ,where is it ? as ive scoured the door to no avail ...
If it was earth surely it wouldnt work at all ??????
This is really strange
 
Ok , Ive cleaned all connections and replaced it all after checking , then re checked.
Cant find anything wrong at all and the window works perfectly but in reverse.
Must be a calibration thing surely ............
There must be an answer???????????

Did you disconnect the battery?

hmm salvaged unit from breakers,maybe had a cable replacement and not run cables the correct route:confused: just a thought:)

Checked new motor against old , guess what ......... identical
Cable wound the same motor turns same way , wired up the same...........
stumped
 
Does sound very strange, could well be a fault inside the motor itself which you cant see, do you have any mates etc you could borrow a motor from to see if thats the offending item ??
 
Checked it against my old motor which was ok , all the same ,spins in same direction everything , (my old regulator only failed on the window clamp guide but had to replace everything and now its stripped down)
Thinking it must be a sensor which is telling window its up when its down........ but where is it .../...

only thing left is wiring,maybe had broken wires in tailgate and previous owner connected them wrong way switching the live and earth:confused:
