Good evening,
I'm having problems with my freelander 1 facelift 2004 tailgate window, all is fine with window when opening and closing rear door the problem comes when i try to open the window from the centre consul switch. If I try to lower it won't stop going down, then once fully opened nothing happens when I try to close using the said switch. I then have to use the key in the back door keyhole to close it! Also the key fob doesn't operate any windows, thinking about buying a new switch unless anyone can come up with an alternative.
Thanks in anticipation.

Sounds like the console switch is knackered going up. To confirm this you could remove a working cubby box window switch and replace that with it. The tailgate works with the fob key by dropping the window while the doors locked. After that you use the ignition key and turn the lock right to raise the window once more. Its mainly for when you having shopping bags.

Holding the unlock button down for 5 seconds will drop the tail door window only. The key is then used to close it again. It's designed so loading shopping into the boot is easier with one hand.
All other windows are controlled from the inside switches.

yu normally find out by sitting on the key fob and then finding out the following morning that the rear window is down and the torrential thunderstorm of last night was pointed at the back end of yo motor :(
