Hello everyone, a few months ago the alarm on my Freelander was deactivated, and since then I have noticed that I cannot lower or raise the tailgate window. I have read that the CCU might be preventing it. I would like to fix it so that the tailgate window can be operated by the switch, without the alarm.
If anyone has done this before, could you please explain how it’s done, or if anyone knows? Many thanks to everyone!

Freelander 1, 1999., 2.0 DI, 3-door, 72kW, LHD.

Does it still drop when you open the door and raise when you close it?
My car electrician rolled the window down just enough so that the trunk can always be opened. So, the window doesn’t go up or down, it stays lowered by a few centimeters in the same level even when it is opened and when it is closed

The tailgate window has been discussed at length on here.

There are a number of reasons as to why it won't shift. Things like the rear wiper not being parked off it (or rather the sensors not indicating that), the door latch sensor.

Usually though, I'm pretty sure, just replacing the regulator fixes 90% of window problems. They look to be a bit more expensive than they used to be. Looking at about £150 doing a quick search.

Quick answer :

If you have a issue with the tailgate window, you can't lock the car, and rear wipper will not work, and the boot will be flooded.
You can fail the MOT because of a no working rear wipper

If you want to get it fixed, you need at first know what is working what is not :
Does the door lock/unlock works, you should hear it ?
Do you hear the rear window machanism ?

If you have the removable hard top version, it cause a lot of issue with the rear window.

I just want to be able to open my tailgate window
If you JUST want to open tailgate window and, as above, don't want any other functions to work, wiper, washer, glass to drop to allow door to open, window calibration for correct operation, then simply apply 12 v to pins 3 and 6 of the window motor and reverse the polarity to close it again.

Easier to solve the problem but you asked how to open it !
