Tailgate not locking

Just a quick question
Now and again the tailgate opens of its own accord tonight I tried to lock car up but horn sounded so checked the boot only to hear the latch or micro switch opening and shutting quickly!
Eventually I managed to lock the car is this usually just a replacement switch as I looked on eBay and saw plenty of kits.

If it’s a freelancer one, it needs a new solenoid
If it’s a two, it needs a new switch

Is the handle loose? The plastic bit you push to open it.
Mine did that and the tiny spring that returns it had come loose. The handle could flap about and it doesn't take much to operate the micro-switch.

Well it’s in for a service tomorrow so the guy will check wiring first but it all points to the switch.
Handle seems firm and not loose
But I’ve heard that early ones had metal plate that can corrode with water ingress so I’ll strip it b4 ordering anything after the service.
