tailgate issue

hi my problem is the other day the back door wouldn't open then the following day the back wiper,rear windscreen heater,and rear window wouldn't work.i took a hint from the forum and disconnected the battery and when I reconnected it everything was working apart from the back door.does anyone know how I can get the back door to open so I can check things out someone suggested buying a tailgate release handle but to fit this I would need the door open surely any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

First you need to work out whether the door handle or catch is defective or if it is the ccu computer that is not allowing a door release for some other reason. If the window drops when you operate the handle then it is most likely the lock mechanism that has failed. If the window doesn't drop when you try the handle a window, ccu or switch fault is likely.

Sometime the door handle flapper when you try to open gets stuck try there first. If this feels fully towards you, try and move it back and forth to release the jam.
