tailgate internal chequer plate

2mm or 3mm thick ?

since finding the wiring fault on my disco 1 in the tailgate door, I'm thinking of replacing the panel with some nice looking black chequer plate, but not sure whether to get 2 or 3mm thickness.

If you've replaced yours, what thickness did you use ?

I used ply wood so im sure either thickness will be fine

I'm pretty certain it's the same stuff! Some sellers measure the plate thicknes and some measure the plate plus the chequers. I've bought both 2mm and 3mm and can't tell any difference.

tbh 2mm should be fine unless you plannign on fastening loads of weight to it, then id go with 3 for abit more strenght for fixings.

looks like 2mm it is then.

Thinking of incorporating a 12v lighter / USB socket in it too.
