Gents, I can find a black tailgate button on island (part number ALR6310) but it says up to model year 98.
Mine is a 2000 and chrome. Now, I can live with a black button but will it fit with being for the earlier model?
If not, what is the part number for the later one?
Also, can't seem to find a heated LHS mirror glass. (and it's the one with the anti dazzle. It's not broken but the liquid for the anti dazzle has leaked leaving me with only a third of the mirror useable)
Cheers in advance.

I believe the buttons are the same, I fitted a latter chrome one to my 97, straight swap, cant help on the mirror front but there is pages and pages of different ones on fleebay.

Cheers for that. It certainly looks the same on the picture but wasn't certain.
I think I'll take a punt at a shade over 40 notes. It's getting a bit of a joke having to crawl over the back seats to get stuff out of the boot. It works about 50% of the time for the top but it now almost never opens the bottom tailgate.
I've had it apart and it worked well for a while but it's now dying.

Are you sure its the button, on mine it was the 2 prongs on the motor where it plugs into the loom. I twisted them slightly to improve the connection and it has been ok since.

Yes, I've tested the motor several times when I've had to remove the trim to get in.
If I bridge the switch, it works every time without fail.
I'm tempted to temporarily fit a separate switch inside the tailgate so I can operate it until I get a new button.

Thanks for the advice though.

Datatek has posted various tailgate button fixes over the years including an alternative replacement.

Yes, I've had it out and fixed the plunger part and it definitely pushes the microswitch in but every time I do it, it works for a week or so and then starts to play up again.
Unless I can find a microswitch with the correct plug then a new button it is.
As long as the black one is the correct fitment, then I've no problem buying one.

The object of the post really was for somebody with a parts catalogue (I think it's called microcat or something) to kindly give me the part numbers then I can search for the parts I need and know they are the right ones.

Probably better just to get a whole mirror off a scrapper. Only held in by something like 3 screws.
Not many scrappies near us and a distinct lack of time. Also, I've seen lots of these with this mirror problem so probably best not to get the photochromic one and just move the mirrors if I'm getting blinded!

Can't say I have ever been dazzled by my wing mirrors... probably too busy with one eye on the temperature gauge and the other on the EAS lights...
