hi i have a T reg freelander that's doing my head in,its had the head gasket and head done all skimmed and pressure tested however it keeps pressurising and blowing the rad pipes off but does not overheat.
i have bypassed the stat and gearbox and heater matrix ETC and still does it.
however i have now taken possession of a kv6 engine and have heard it will fit the landy, does anyone have any idea how if its at all possible?
your help would be much appreciated.
Almost forgot to say its currentley a 1.8 k16.

Do yu like HGF?

The only thing the KV6 does better than the 1.8 is HGF - twice as many - two at a time!!! - forget it and put in a 220turbo lump.

any idea how to put in a 220turbo wot conversions brackets and wot gearbox and gearbox couplings would i need etc?

will it fit the 220 straight in the engine bay or will i need to make mods? im seriouse about making this conversion so will i need to buy an entire car so that i use its electrical system, ECU etc? or will the current origional wiring be ok? i dont meen to be a pest but could you give me as much advice and detail as possible to do this conversion please as i dont want to make a start and end up with a scrap car in my back gaden please buddy.

Try sifting through the Rover & MG forums as they should give more details re the swap albeit for K-series powered Rover/MG cars. I would think that your idea to buy a complete car would be very sensible though you may still need other specialist items mounts/belhousing etc but i'm not sure.
If you do decide to go ahead, then please let us know how you get on.
Although Landrover did sell an automatic model with the KV6 engine as standard you'd be better forgetting this option & sell on the engine you've bought.
Good luck

Dont trust the pressure test!!! I had a blown 300Tdi head in Cyprus and the little S**t that pressure tested the head f****d up as it had minute cracks. Mine overheated but the pipes were solid with pressure. I expect yrs are blowing off under pressure before it gets a chance to get really hot. Get a new head mate, it may be easier than the conversion.

wot he sed.

Lates600 or Dr Dave are yo guys.

so what your saying is that nobody knows how to acctually do the conversion even though your all telling me get this lump and that lump and that one wont fit?
what i would like to know is how to do it and what parts i will require and where i can get the specialist parts please guys, so be as helpfull as you can with as much info as poss please!!

ffs.
Yu need the T220 engine , clutch, radiator/intercooler (and gearbox if you want the LSD[but only 2wd]). Also the ECU and engine management electrics. I am led to believe it is a bolt-in replacement. If you wish to use the Hippoo gearbox, you need to change the input shaft. The T16 has the same bolt pattern as the 1.8 K series, as they both used the PG1 gearbox.

is that enough? I have already said speak to Dr Dave and Lates600 on the rover forum. They know more about these engines than most.
If peeps can fit a T220 lump in a series, then it will fall into a Hippoo.

No HALFWIT, what we're telling you if you even bothered to read our posts is to RESEARCH the 220 turbo engine conversion by asking the Rover MG boys using the contact names kindly provided by Maddy.
Quite honestly though by the way you're whining on I don't think you've got the skills to do any sort of engine swap so maybe best stick to repairing/replacing your existing 1.8 gem of a unit or getting rid of the whole car & buying the even more unreliable KV6 model if that's what you really want.
