T-Cut: Aye or Nae

Evening,

Reversing out of a parking space this evening, wife beside me in full chattering mode. Didn't realise until it was too late that the bit of lock I applied brought my roof into contact with some low-hanging branches.

Got out to inspect the damage and there are some superficial scratches that have gone through the lacquer but not down to bare metal. They won't polish out with a bit of polish so wondering whether to T-Cut them?

Common sense says leave well alone as T-Cut is abrasive and will only remove more lacquer and paint layers. Am I right?
 
If you want to keep it shiny then meguires cutting compound and clay bar kit will get light scratches out but you are getting into the realms of the detailing world then and that should only be whispered about on this forum haha
 
I would not use tcut or any cutting compound if the lacquer is damaged as it WILL make it worse.

If its on the roof and you cant see it don't worry about it ;)

If its going to bother you that much tho...... I would prep it properly, paint it re-lacquer it and then if you want to go to extremes then machine polish it until it blends it.

A+++ . And if you do use a cutting compound or even t-cut . Don't forget to use plenty of water to stop you burning the paint Or scratching it even more !Not that I ever use anything like that on mine . Landys are meant to be dirty ;-)

The problem (if you could describe it as that) on this one is that the paint is so minty over the entire body, that scratching the roof a little only served to **** me off massively!

In the end I gave it a really good polish with some Turtle Wax and plan to leave it at that :)
