T-Box Questions

Hi all,
I have searched this, but can't find anything of much use-maybe someone can point me in the right direction. . .
I have a couple of questions about my t-box- vehicle is a '93 110 200tdi with LT77, and a milage of 200,000

Question 1,
Is there any way to tell what transfer box i have? I suspect may have a disco t-box, but would like to know for sure.

Question 2,
How loud does transmission whine need to be before i should worry about it? Over the last 500 miles it's starting to get louder than the engine, especially up near 60-70mph.

Any thoughts much appreciated,

60 mph + and everything will be screaming as loud as it can, if one stands out more than the rest its either fooked or out of oil and about to be fooked!

There's a plate on the side of the box with the relevant numbers telling you which box you have.....unless it's fallen off.

28D depicts a Disco box, but the ratio will be stamped on the plate, it's coloured as well i think....red or yellow...or maybe that was just my blood after scrapping me knuckles again :lol:

Cheers for that! I know what you mean about the plate- I remember seeinbg a red one on mine- I'll have a butchers and see what's what. Should probably think about organising some new bearings too
