I have just fitted a synergy2 to my 55 freelander. Can anyone tell me the best place to put the box under the bonnet and where is the best place to go through the bulk head for the internal switch???

My box is in the gap between the ECU box and the other one next to it seems ok there.I don't have the control in the dash model.

There is a rubber bung/plug on the bulkhead on the engine side, which if you take out and poke a screwdriver through you will find it comes out just above the clutch pedal. :D

I have the Synergy2 in a water-tight zip-lock bag right up against the bulkhead behind the fuse/relay box. :D

Have fun once you fit it all. :D:D:D:D

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I will be rummaging under the bonnet again tomorrow!!!

It'll be well worth it. :)

Have you got the latest Ronbox of tricks that can be changed from eco to performance on the move? The old one, even with the switch, could only be changed after you switched off the engine.

New one is great - eco for the motorway & dual-c/way, with the performance setting for the fun twisty bits. :D:D:D

Oh, and :welcome2: to the crazy LandyZone. :D

Yes I have the latest box.
I managed to get through the bulk head about 3 inches to the right where the bonnet release cable goes through, and fixed the switch inside the drivers side glove box.
Can you tell me which setting you have yours on as I have tried 2,3 and 5 and there isn't much of a difference between all of them!!! (no smoke either)
I also fitted an egr bypass too.
Thanks

Hi,

Inside the glove box would be of no use to me, as I need to be able to change mode whilst on the move.

My switch is near the head-light up-down adjuster.

If your using settings 1 to 5 you must still have the original Bosch MAF. Unplug the MAF (don't remove it) and see if running without it makes a difference. If it's a bit better with it unplugged your MAF is out of spec.

I have a Pierburg MAF and I'm running on setting 8 - high torque and medium power. Goes like a train. Bags of low down pulling power - improved mpg as well, well worth the money.

Yes I still have the original Bosch MAF. Is it much of a job to put a Pierburg MAF on?
To be honest my wife drives the FL every day and I'm surprised she said she noticed a difference!!!!
Should there have been quite a considerable difference to the performance? It was much nicer to drive in the city in lots of traffic as there are now no flat spots when you pull away, so in that respect the box works well. In the blurb the bhp should go from 115bhp to 144bhp and 260torques to 300torques!!!
I have only ever tuned petrol cars before!

There shouldn't be flat spots do get that sorted first then apply the synergy - and yes there is a big difference - with a Bosch MAF you use 1 to 5 and with a Pierburg 6-10 - there is no advantage in using the wrong settings and they are just two ranges to suit the MAFs

My Bosch was out and the Pierburg had a better reputation to I swooped it - i have now sorted out injector stuff and to be honest for the lady couple of weeks my synergie has had the power switch off and the car goes well.

I would suggest that your MAF is past it - kaput. This may well be why you did not get much difference between the settings.

There should be a BIG difference in performance over standard - an extra 30 BHP is quite believable and even more if you've by-passed the EGR, and/or fitted the BMW pcv. Like a different vehicle - much, much more willing. Extra mpg is a bonus.

Fitting the Pierburg is a piece of cake - full instructions from Roveron. Needs a torx socket to take out the screws, usually included free from Ron.

I got the MAF from him too as he was the cheapest with exactly the correct one, and with a guarantee.
