hiya

im in the process of having to run wires for my cb, aux fuse box , then got to run my loom for my spots and fogs

i did mount my synergy box inside a waterproof box then mounted it using the battery securing bolt

i looked inside the ecu box and see there is plenty of room for the synergy to go into there as i need to move it due to there is a bracket that holds the spot light relays and uses the battery securing bolt

i see on the end of the synergy u cant unplug the wires as i thought of drilling a hole in the side of the ecu but cant do that as looking at the synergy it needs a slot put on the side of the ecu box so the two cables will then slide in

but my main concern doing that would be the ingress of any water etc and the possibility of it then damaging the ecus

sorry being a pain but was wondering has anyone else put there synergy inside the ecu box please and how have to waterproofed it, or has any got any pics please

am also going to put a tube in the ecu box so i can run wires into the ecu box then back out, thats going to be ok as i can just drill the right size hole and put a grommet in the side

as im going to run the tube from the ecu box then through the grommet which comes out just above the clutch pedal and silocome it to prevent any engine fumes or water ingress so that side im not bothered about

as i need to run wires from the battery to the cb, then another set onto an internal aux fuse box

also noticed in the fuse box under the bonnet there is a spare fuse named FL2 and is 60 amp, didnt know if i could take supplies off the aux then through the bulkhead and onto my secondary fuse box

its the synergy box and just didnt know how some of u guys have done it please

just dont want to cause any water damage and hope u guys didnt mind me asking

if anyone can put pics up please i would be very grateful to you

thks again and apologies once again for being a pain and hopefully the above makes sense

thks

I thought about doing the same, but as you say, water ingress into that box wouldn't be too helpful. Its a sealed box for a reason. Anyway, here's how I did it.

The box is inside a black foam lined abs plastic box, simply velcroed to the battery

just remember to keep the synergy wiring tubing well clear of the injector wiring
( if they do cross .. keep them at right-angles to each other )

Mine's velcroed to the bulkhead next to the fuel pump sticker with a bit of bubble wrap wedged between it and the fuse/wiring box. I figure if water gets up there, I'm going to have bigger problems anyway...

How often do you guys submerge your engine bays?!

I took the lid off the ecu box, cut a wee "V" shape in the lower part at the rear near the corner where it fits around the engine fuse box, laid the cables through it and put the lid back. Done. The lid has a lip which overlaps the base slightly and there is no water ingress. Seriously there is pretty much no chance of water getting in there unless you are being a dick with a pressure washer.

hiya

thks guys,

i spent hours last night thinking about this and the only thing i was concerned about was any condensation or water ingress and was actually thinking of doing the same in cutting a small v shape set the 2 x cables into the groves and then put some silicone around the tubing

my only thought was as there is plenty of room in there and to prevent it from moving around about putting some foam around the synergy box then thought about creating a fire hazard as i dont know how hot the ecu boxes get

as i dont want it bouncing around inside thinking of using some cable ties to secure it to the side or maybe getting a small electrical box , sliding it in between the ecu units then sit the synergy inside that

dont intend in doing any deep wading but just didnt wish to create a problem by allowing any water or in the winter any condensation etc into the ecu box

another thought was to get a piece of flex pipe, cut a slot in two pieces then lay the synergy pipes then put on tube inside the other and offset the slots so it creates a seal,

just toying with all different ideas and have also been thinking about using fittings that are used in ponds etc, as i use to be a plumbing a heating engineer also a large tank connector that have rubber gaskets, or to cut a slot in the ecu box, then get two pieces of rubber and two pieces of metal, cutting a slot into them then bolt them together,

thks again for all the ideas and will indeed post some pics, i like a challenge and working things out and of course will share what ever i decide to do
