Swivel Pin Sticking

I've been trying to set the pre-load on one of my swivel pins. All seemed to be going ok (apart from all the oil emptying itself on my garage floor unexpectedly) until I came to set the pre-load with a spring balance.

The hub is stiff to turn at first, then it turns easily, gets stiff again (cue inuendo), before finally snapping over loosely to full-lock. I wasn't expecting this so I'm now not sure whether something's wrong, or whether to set the pre-load at a stiff bit or a loose bit.

sorry can't help with your problem, but just abit of advise, might be worth swapping oil for one shot grease.. its alittle easier to work with when ya messing with the swivels..

you are supposed to check preload with seal off ,but as long as it feels smooth with some resistance by hand it will be okay
