Good evening,

Please excuse my complete and utter lack of knowledge - I'm just beginning to learn about fiddling with LRs...

My parents have a S1 Safari Disco, and want to replace the broken head unit - preferably with a tape deck model compatible with the existing underseat Philips CD autochanger.

Do I need to look for an exact replacement? Or would the Alpine Disco 2 model work just as well? The compatibility with the CD player is key - all else negotiable.

Thanks in advance!

SD.

Only a Philips head unit will be compatible with the existing underseat Philips-CD autochanger.

Something like this one.

Ok, thanks, that's all very interesting and helpful.

Paulmitchell - if you could verify that it is indeed the same model, and has the code, I would be very interested.

Cheers.

Hi,

Sorry to bump this, but does anyone perchance know which model of Philips head unit was fitted to Tdi Safaris?

As far as I can tell there were two types in circulation - the amr1782lnf which needs an amplifier, and the amr2195, which has the amp built in.

Cheers.
