I never said they're wrong. Although their tests are very good, they are simply unable to take into account all possible variables in their crash tests and they make this perfectly clear. As a result, they provide guidance on how to make fair comparisons. You're the idiot here for misunderstanding what I said and for getting your facts wrong.

With reference to what I said in my previous post, Euro NCAP say pretty much the same thing on their website, albeit with more detail.

"Comparable cars

Euro NCAP’s frontal impact test simulates a car crashing into another of similar mass and structure. In real life, when two cars collide the vehicle with the higher mass has an advantage over the lighter one. Generally speaking, vehicles with higher structures tend to fare better in accidents than those with lower structures. Therefore, ratings are comparable only between cars of similar mass and with broadly similar structures. Euro NCAP groups cars into the following structural categories: passenger car, MPV, off-roader, roadster and pickup. Within each of those categories, cars which are within 150kg of one another are considered comparable."

With that in mind, I think your comment regarding the Freelander vs. Polo is somewhat an unfair and uninformed comparison.

So make sure you get your facts right before you go round calling people an idiot!

I agree that the Freelander isn't a great performer overall. Though, I think "poor" is a slight exaggeration. I cannot remember the exact NCAP definition for 3 stars, but it's certainly not "poor", especially not back in those days. A 1 star rating is considered to be "poor".

the one redeeming feature of the gaylander is its chasis, thats why you have plastic wings.Thats also why it falls down in crash tests.Too samll to win an arguement, too stiff to crumpple in one.

If you'd seen me drive my freelander to it's limits then maybe the above quote could hold some weight.

I've probably pushed my freelander harder than anyone else has on this forum. I've had to drive it so hard on one occasion the minute i switched the engine off and got the out the car i almost fell over as i started shaking so badly from scaring myself ****less. Did i make a single mistake? No. Did my freelander make a single mistake? No.

I can guarantee if i'd have been in any other car than my freelander that night i wouldn't have made it home in one piece. I'd have either ended up stabbed or with my head through the windscreen.

I know how to drive my freelander perfectly well thank you.
