Any ideas what I should ask for my 1985 413 soft-top with solid chassis but
some rust in the usual places, and a front full bull-bar?

Alternatively what could I get if i took the bull bar off and sold it
seperately? ;)

Lol yeah i suppose so. Just that somebody said it was an "import" when I
priced up parts or whatever, so they sounded like it was different to the UK
spec maybe? Like I said I dunno its the first one I ever owned; but it isnt
big enough so it has to go.

Well yes Simon, I know someone who wants one . . .

Usual questions - year, condition, MoT - how long, any tax, hardtop /
softtop, where is it and are there any things that need rectifying?

Tried to contact your posting address but it bounced back . . . mine
will too so please post reply and if its reasonably close I'll post
his contact details.

Thanks, Lurch

Oh well, wonder if he really had one for sale or was just spamming for his website?

Not a standard engine then ?

There is / was a firm in Birmingham called Suzi-Q's

I thought you were after a 410 axle, if so the 413 will fit however the diffs
and more importantly the ratios are different.

Oh b*##~r . . . Thanks for warning me Geoff!! ISTR someone telling me
they were the same ratio. No, definitely need the 413 axle then
otherwise it wouldn't last long - ditto the rear! Also thanks for
your note re axle breathers, just the thing needed. Didn't spare the
jemmy after that! One day when I finally go far enough South to
actually meet you I'll buy you not one but two drinks.

Suzie Qs is a bit too pricey, mentioned a sun almost as much was paid
for the rest of the vehicle!

There's a place in Banbury called Oxygen, and a breaker in Leicester I
might try. Anyone had experience of Oxygen?

Bought a Rubbers-Suzuki front bumper recently, massive piece of kit.
A bit 'industrial' in the finish but fine in every other respect and
good value for the price on ebay. Looks good on the front of the one I
put it on too.

Beer works for me ;-)

A matched pair of 410 or 413 axles will fit. (tho early 410's have different
props)

410 and 413 diffs are different (size and ratio)

413 diffs will fit in a Samauri however the axles are different.

I've never dealt with them.

Nope, have you tried ebay ?

Rubbers pricing looks a bit steep as well !

Nice cheap tastes then! I'll have to do a 'booze cruise' and bung out
a few bottles whilst passing.

In the absence of any reasonable 413 axles in the area have been
offered a sound pair of 410 axles. The diff seems just over an inch
shorter though the prop flange seemed to be the same. Which shafts -
or neither - will be best fit? The skinny 410 ones or the fatter
413s?

Whats the difference in gearing, is it significant . . . would it be
noticeable? Doesn't really matter except for estimating actual as
opposed to indicated speed.

Taking into account free delivery and the price offered on ebay it
worked out fairly reasonable given the weight and strength of the
thing. The cost in my own time to fabricate one would be greater
before adding material and on costs.

Broke the Series 3 sometime in the last few days so got to do some
chassis welding too. Never heard it go though it had a pounding in
the woods. Only noticed when the front bumper appeared to have
developed a sag . . . Tally so far four this year!

Cheers, Lurch

Just as long as its reassuringly expensive ;-)

Later 410 flanges are the same so you can swap them as they are, if the flanges
are different they are interchangeable, if you do pull the 1/2shafts expect to
have to change the rear wheel bearings.

I've always run 410 axles on my 413's as I want the lower gearing to help
compensate for the bigger tyres, you will have better acceleration but a lower
top end, how this plays out on standard tyres I have no idea as I've only ever
run 31's or 33's.
