Hi everyone,can anyone recommend any good springs and shockers for my 1987, 90 Defender van. It has git a 2” lift on it what was there when I bought it. The springs look old and don’t seem to have been replaced for a while. Not sure what shocks are on it as cant see no name on them. Just know there orange. Ive had all bushes replaced but just trying to get a bit better ride on roads. Ive seen alot of people talking about ARB but i have no brackets on my chassis or anywhere to put some on. Im not sure how long the shocks have been on so thought new springs n shocks must help overall. Thanks Andy.

Suspention ? Something you get when you mix a Land Rover with your computers Pentium processor?:D

If after a good ride and road manner's you won't do much better than standard springs and shocks. If you like to drive hard then some gas shocks

Sorry don’t mean to sound stupid but new to landy’s, if i put standard back on I assume that will put all bk to normal as in no lift kit. Will i have to change anything else with it having the 2” lift on or is it just shocks n springs ?. Or can i put standard on and keep the lift. Like i say this is my first time with Defenders

It's the springs that create the lift unless it has been fitted with lift blocks on the axle under the spring seat.. Standard springs = standard height. 2 inch lifts are generally just springs and shocks.

Thank you. I’ve noticed that the springs look really old and don’t look to have been replaced, and there is nothing under them apart from what should be there. But as ive said before the shockers have definitely been replaced. And it is raised. So if only the shocks have been changed but not springs would this make a difference on the drive ?

No it would not, springs control the hight. You can use 2 inch extra length shocks with standard springs so if in good nick you can keep them.

@andyjack

One of the best things i did to my defender is remove the 2inch lift, fit standard springs from a puma at the front and heavy load springs (i have a roof tent, roll cage and a load of camping stuff at the back) on the rear with Terrafirma AT shocks front and back - i think the biggest difference was removing the lift

Yes thats what i was thinking putting it back to standard must be better for it, thanks for confirming appreciate it, Andy.
